The fashions of the 80's helped define these years as the "decade of excess," with bright colors, lots of accessories, big hair. These demonstrated that for the most part, it was a happy, fun decade. But it also contained moments that are burned in time. We know where we were when the Challenger shuttle tragically exploded.

The 80's may have possibly been a golden age of movies, producing flicks like Raiders of the Lost Ark, A Christmas Story, and Jumpin' Jack Flash.
Television shows, cartoons, and commercials helped shape the 80's and the decade to follow. Who can forget "Where's the Beef" ads, Dallas, the Cosby Show and the Smurfs?

The 80's was definitely the decade of the video game. Back then, we didn't need 64 bits, 3-D graphics, or realism. Once upon a time, Donkey Kong was top of the line.

Besides the culture and history, nothing quite defines the 80's as does its music - it was upbeat, synthesized, created by people with big hair and shiny, outrageous outfits... it was great!! This is the decade known for heavy metal/glamrock, new wave, a more innocent rap music, and the ever-fun and upbeat, pop music!
